The End...

Welp, it has come to an end...

I cannot believe that I already finished my mission. This week went by way too fast but it was a good last week. (: 

Last night we had a 2 stake fireside so I got to see lots of members from my last area Juarez and it was awesome. (: I was happy to see them cause I didn't get to go back and visit the area before I left! Also, Janette's dad Norberto went to the fireside and he said he felt the spirit a lot! It was the first time we got him to go to church...wooh! (: 

Also this week I had my "Outgoing Missionary Interview"...ahhh! It was crazy talking to my Mission President about my plans for after the mission. I'm scared for the real world! This week has pretty much been about goodbyes and it's been really sad but all good things have to come to an end. :(

(Random P.S.) They took away Transfers Meetings in all the missions in the world so we're all super sad and they have to go back to doing the transfers where they just call you to tell you your area and companion a day before and you leave. Those of us missionaries that are going home this week are sad because it was gonna be our last transfers meeting. :( But that's okay, everything happens for a reason. 

Well, I just want to thank you all for your support and love. Serving a full time mission was the best thing I could have ever done for myself and I am eternally thankful for the things I've experienced and learned here. There is nothing like being a missionary. It is the best "job" anyone could have. I have a firm testimony that this is the Lord's work. We are saving lives and bringing them back to their Father. And in the process we end up saving ourselves as well. THIS IS God's true church on the Earth. There is no doubt in my mind. He has a plan for each and every one of us and if we just trust Him and follow His teachings and counsels, we will get to the place He is leading us to and will become the people He is shaping and molding us to be. I am so so so happy that I made the decision to come here and that I accepted the call to Puebla, Mexico. This is such a special place that I will never forget and am going to miss with all my heart.

This is the last time you guys are going to receive an email from this missionary account because on Wednesday I am officially home. Tomorrow me and the rest of the missionaries that are going home are going to be in the Mission House all day. We're gonna eat tacos and party...wooh! (;

The Final Stretch - Last week in the mission

Hola! 

Today we had my last zone activity ever... whaaat? It was fun and I got super sunburnt. The first time in a while that I've gotten sunburned... Also I now have bruises on my arm from playing volleyball for so long.

Welp, this week went by super fast. We had good success lesson wise and worked super hard! We walked SO. MUCH.

We have 3 new investigators from this week and we're hoping the first lessons are well so they can get baptized with Hermana Cupul and her new companion!! 

A recent convert in the ward is an alcoholic and he relapsed super bad but this week we have gone to his house every day to read the Book of Mormon and he stopped drinking and even went to church on Sunday.  We're super happy!

I love the families here so much. And I love being a missionary. I'm going to take advantage of every moment this last week because it'll be over before I know it :(

Well next Monday will be the day before I actually finish my mission so nobody really has to respond to these emails since I'll be able to talk with you all in "person" 2 days afterwards...haha.

Happy New Year!

This week was pretty good. We had lots more success lesson-wise than last week!

Today we went to this nice mall and I was so happy and I bought some normal person clothes for when I get back because it's cheaper here. (: Just thinking ahead...hehe.

For New Years Eve we did... nothing. :( We had to be in the house at 7pm if nobody could give us a ride, and nobody could give us a ride so that was sad. But wow, the streets were filled with drunk/hungover people on the 31st and 1st...haha. It's kinda funny to see.

Isaura keeps progressing...wooh! We were kinda sad because we thought she wasn't going to go to church yesterday but then they opened the doors after the sacrament and she walked in...wooh! We're so happy for her. (:

This week so many people have tried to argue with us about the gospel. The other day literally every single person we contacted in the morning tried to fight about churches and everything. It was so frustrating because their concepts of our church are all wrong and they don't let us explain or correct anything. But it's okay because every time my testimony grows more! The "points" they try to bring up make no sense and every argument they try to make is so absurd. This gospel just makes sense! There is nothing that can disprove the Book of Mormon, or the fact that this is the true church. I love it. (:

Well this email is gonna be really short cause we only have 25 minutes to write! So sorry if I don't respond to like, anyone...haha. But hey, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. (:

Since it's Christmas week there's not a lot of work here because everyone leaves or is busy. :( So we didn't have much success. But, we do have a new investigator with a baptismal date!! Her name is Isaura. I think I mentioned her last week... Yeah she's getting baptized on January 30th which is sad because I'll already be home, but I'm gonna Facetime so I can see it. (;

On the 24th, President gave us permission so that me, my companion, Hermana Sellers and her comp and the 4 other Elders we share wards with could all go and eat at a member's house to celebrate Christmas! It was super fun because their house is really nice and we walked in and they had the tables all nicely set up for us and even had a candy table just for us. We were like little kids...haha, we were so happy! 

On the 25th we didn't do much but we got to spend a little bit of time with Janette and her dad that we're teaching! Then we Skyped home...wooh!! It was so nice to see and talk with my family.

Today I got to go back to Ciudad Serdan to visit! Hna Herrera (my last companion) went too! (: It was super awesome to see everyone and see some of my converts there. I missed everyone so much and it was awesome to surprise them. (:

Well I hope everyone has an amazing New Year! On New Years Eve you can start the 20 day countdown to my coming home. (;

Feliz Navidad!!!

Sorry I didn't write yesterday. The myldsmail account wasn't working for a lot of missionaries so they gave us permission to write today!

Today we had our mission Christmas conference... wooh! We were only like 1/3 (mas o menos) of the mission because they are doing it by zone conference groups but it was still super fun! We played a bunch of games, sang Christmas songs, ate and signed stockings (like yearbooks haha) etc.,  etc. It was awesome! And we did something that my family does as a tradition (they stole the idea from me) and we all wrote what our gift for Jesus this year was going to be and put it in a box to open next year. Then afterwards the assistants made me go up and share about an experience I've had in my life from doing it. It was fun.

Yesterday we had our ward Christmas dinner party and it as awesome as well! Us and the Elders were in the choir and and ton of people showed up (including investigators and less/inactive members) and we were so happy! We even had to get permission to go home late because it was so successful and we were helping with everything!

This week wasn't too eventful, since it's Christmastime we don't have too much success as missionaries this time of year. So we've pretty much been walking around in the street a lot trying to talk to people. But it's okay, hopefully we'll find someone!

Well I love you all and hope you have a wonderfully Merry Christmas. (: Don't forget the reason we celebrate it. Christ was born for us, lived for us, died for us, and was resurrected for us; all so we can have eternal life. His birth was the moment that gave the world the hope of salvation. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to share the perfect Christmas gift that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Flashback!

Hola!

Well since I'm in my last transfer, today I got to go back and visit my first area in the mission, Loma Florida (in Tlaxcala)! I got to see some of my converts and one of my favorite families there and it was awesome. (: It was so surreal to be there after a whole year and I didn't want to leave! It seemed like time had barely passed since I last saw them. (:

Well my new companion is Hermana Cupul! She's from Playa del Carmen (by Cancun) and has 14 months in the mission. We've already had a lot of fun together this week and I'm happy to have her as my last companion! And guess who's in my district now!? Hermana Sellers, my MTC companion!! Finally haha, we're super pumped. (:

Not too much happened this week. We have a new investigator who's the grandma of a recent convert here and she's so sweet! It's hard for her to leave the traditions and religion that she's had her whole life, but we know she's gonna accept the gospel. (:

We broke our house key the other day... literally it broke in half when we tried to open the door. Don't ask me how it happened, cause I have no idea...hahaha. 

Our biggest issue with investigators in the ward right now is getting them married!! There are so many people who live together and aren't married and it's a struggle figuring out everything they need to do to get married. Pray for them! (:

This weekend was the dedication for the Tijuana Temple and it was so beautiful. Just like the Mexico City Temple dedication, I felt the spirit SO much and even more testimony that this is THE true church with the fullness of Christ's gospel. I'm so sure of it that there isn't room for doubt in my mind. (:

I love this work and I love Puebla/Tlaxcala. It's sooo beautiful here and I'm so thankful for all the people I love here!

Final Countdown

Hello friends!

Well... tomorrow I officially start... my LAST TRANSFER. WHAT?

I'm going to finish my mission here in Aquiles Serdan!!! But my companion has transfers. :( So tomorrow I'll get my last companion of my mission, wow...

This week has been kind of hard and we've been seeing lots of trials. A lot of the investigators that we had aren't progressing or are we aren't finding them anymore which makes us sad. Especially because since me and my comp are both finishing our missions we feel super worn out and discouraged lately. But we keep trying and trying and I know the Lord will bless us for our efforts. He is always testing and trying us but He is also always blessing us when we do what he asks. His whole purpose is our happiness and that we can live with Him again!

I don't have much to say about this week but I'm very thankful for the families here who I love so much and who give us "animo!"

We had Stake Conference Saturday and yesterday and Elder Mirón from the quorum of the 70 spoke and I liked it a lot! I definitely was thinking a lot about the future and what I'm going to do when I get home!

I'm learning how to sew...wooh! Haha. We have a less active member who is a seamstress and she always has a TON of work and she always puts us to work to help her. 

I love Christmas season! It's definitely not the same away from home but last night watching the annual Christmas Devotional I felt the Christmas Spirit even more. (: Something I've been learning is about the importance of service. Christ gave his whole life for us in an act of infinite love and service and the least we can do is help those in need.

Hola!

Well this week was super busy!

On Tuesday we had our big 3 month Zone Conference and me and my comp realized it was our last one in our mission. WHAT? Sooo crazy! We always leave inspired after zone conferences. (:

Our play on Friday was a success wooh!! There were tons of investigators that went and everyone said they loved it and felt the spirit too. Yay! Can I be an actress now? (;

I love Christmas season and we're in the Christmas choir in our ward and I'm so happy and I realized one of my new favorite Christmas hymns is "Away In A Manger" especially the last 2 verses. It's so beautiful!!

Lately we have been having to go to this super nice hospital for my companion because they're doing tests on her and stuff. They have a Krispy Kreme and Starbucks there and I feel like I'm in a different world when I'm there. I love going to the "fresa" parts of Puebla. (:

Miracles happen! And God loves us. I'm so sure of that and I wish everyone else could be too.

Hola!

This was a great week!!

Today we had a zone activity and I learned that I'm a pro at catching footballs. (Working on my throwing too(; ) and that I love burritos.

New investigators wooh! I'll keep ya posted but baptisms are on the way(:

Our English classes are going well! Theres always new people and now the class is mostly investigators. And they actually learn a lot so that's cool. It's super hard teaching English but I love helping people learn it!

Hermana Herrera and I celebrated our Sweet 16 this week...wooh! Haha, yeah we have 16 months in the mission so we're super old. ;)

There are lots of crazy people in this world and one of those is our new investigator and we think he wants to like put spirits in us or something, it's great.

Me, my comp, and the Elders all had to give talks this week and I realized that I've turned into the world's fastest talk writer...haha. That'll come in handy! (:

Everyone needs to read the poem "The Race." I'm not sure who it's by but it's about a little boy running a race. My mission president gave it to me on Saturday and I know it helped me a lot and will probably help some of you too. (:

This week I have been feeling God's love for me SO much. One of my biggest struggles in life has been my self esteem and I've realized it more being here. But with the help of my mission president, my companion, lots of prayer and God, I'm progressing so much and learning to love myself and it just testifies to me even more that I needed to come on a mission. There are so many things that I've learned here that I probably would have never learned if I hadn't made the decision to go on a mission. I have had so much heavenly help in these 16 months and I am so grateful for my Heavenly Father. THE MISSION IS THE BEST!

Hooola!

This week was pretty uneventful so I don't really have much to talk about.

Today we went to this place in San Martín, Texmelucan called Chautla. It's soo pretty and reminded me so much of the lakes in Washington! It's this big place with a big lake surrounding a little castle and they have little hikes around the border of it and I loved it. (:

When ward members give you Mole Poblano 4 times in the same week, don't think you'll escape from getting sick after the 4th time. Throwing up in the church bathroom is great! ;) 

More people are going to our English classes! On Wednesday we had 4 investigators there... wooh, and more people are telling their friends about it. Our ward mission leader put a sign outside of the church that says "Clases de inglés gratis! Profesores Americanos" me and Elder Jarman were like what?? Best professors around... haha.

I think I mentioned last week the play we're gonna do for a ward missionary activity about the war in the heavens... Yeah so I thought I was just gonna be the leader of the good "hosts" but now that we've been practicing it, I have the most to do out of everyone. What? I'm the worst actress I know... wish me luck!

Martín keeps going to church and we're still hopeful for his baptism on the 28th! Now we're just working on getting new investigators to progress.
