"Elderes vamos a ver a las Hermanas. Allí se pierde todo el glamour... comiendo tacos"

Hi,

Well this week was full of stuff... haha.

Today we had a zone activity and did a bunch of stuff. We played Basta, floor surfing (or something like that) and volleyball. Then we took a bunch of pictures and ate these huge taco/burrito things. All the pictures are on my companions camera but it's freaking out right now so I can't send them, sorry :(

General Conference was so great!! I loved it and received answers to all my questions. (: Of course they weren't exact answers because the Lord wants me to be self-sufficient, but I have everything I need to make the right decisions! I loved President Nelson's talk about the influence of women and loved Larry R Lawrence's talk and Elder Devin Durrant's talk too! We're all so sad conference week is over and it's even more sad for me and my companion because the next time we watch General Conference we won't be missionaries anymore. :( I love watching Conference with the American missionaries because we always have a little VIP room and always have food and stuff and our Mission President even watched a session with us missionaries in my stake!

On Wednesday we had a stake missionary training with the stake secretary and it was actually super helpful! He talked to us about how we can work more effectively with the members. Then we had our district meetings afterwards and talked about helping investigators know the importance of going to church. It was all suuuper helpful because the things we talked about are some of the biggest challenges in the mission.

So me, my companion, 2 other companionships of Hermanas and 4 other companionships of Elders are going to do a musical number in the Transfers Meeting in 3 weeks and on Friday we had a "rehearsal" in my last area's chapel. We are singing "How Great Thou Art" in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. (There's an Elder in my zone from Brazil who's helping us learn it in Portuguese)! It's gonna be awesome and we're excited. (:

JANETH IS AWESOME. She is progressing so well and is completely willing to keep all her commitments and keep the commandments. She really wants to change her life and has already come so far!! We can't wait for her baptism.

Well I love and miss you all tons as usual. Hope you loved Conference and that if you didn't see it you get the chance to watch it!! It was amazing. (: (You can see it here: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2015/10?lang=eng )

Have a wonderful week

"So Elder we tomar the setenta y six?...exactly" - I can't speak English anymore!

Guess what?!!

Well remember my 2nd area, Aquiles Serdan, where I only was for 2 weeks and they changed me? Yeah, I'm here again!! When they announced it in the Transfers Meeting I was super surprised and kinda without realizing yelled out "otra vez!?" I think people were amused with my reaction haha. And I'm opening the area for the 2nd time. OH and this area literally touches my last area Juarez. So close yet so far away... My companion is Hermana Herrera and she's from Monterrey, Mexico. We have the same amount of time in the mission so we go home together. (: She's awesome and we get along super well. We've had tons of fun this week...haha.

Even though I was only here for 2 weeks and it was like 9 months ago, all the members are remembering me and are happy to see me and it makes me so happy! Who knows, maybe I'll finish my mission here!

Today we went to El Centro and bought cute clothes which are sooo much cheaper here than at home, so I took advantage of it. (:

Our house is actually the house I chose with my companion when I was here before, but I never actually got to live there cause they finally moved houses days after I left. SO now I finally get to live here! There's 2 bathrooms which is super convenient but my plumbing sucks so that well, sucks... But don't worry we're getting it fixed. (:

We have an investigator that is awesome! She's so nice but is SO insecure. She has a 6 year old daughter and a 11 year old son who has Down's Syndrome (he's the sweetest person and loves to give kisses on the cheeks but he basically just licks your face...haha). She has been battling with alcohol addiction for some time and has been in rehab like 4 times. But she's been sober for like 3 months now and she really wants to be better. She went to church for the first time yesterday and she said she felt so much peace and it was so beautiful to her! We're going to hopefully put a baptismal date with her tonight so PRAY LOTS for her!! (:

I'm officially in my 3rd to last "transfer," AHHH. That means if I don't finish my mission with this companion I'll probably only have 1 other companion. And it's likely that I finish in this area but if not I'll only have 1 more area!

Sorry I don't have too much to talk about and I promise I'll have more pictures next time!

Love you all(:

"Hermana no llore, le va a hacer fea."

Wowwww!

Welp, I have transfers and I was NOT expecting it at all and I'm so sad! When they called me to tell me, I seriously thought they were joking. I'm not ready to leave this area and my companion yet. :( This is my 3rd comp in a row that I've only had for 1 transfer!) :( But I know the Lord has something prepared for me in my new area. I'll update you next week on where I am and who my companion is!

On Tuesday me and the missionaries from my "generation"... really all the missionaries who were with me in the MTC, had to go to the immigrations office to renew our Visas. It was so fun because we all got to catch up and talk about how far we've come. It was so nice joking around with them again. (: We were there waiting for like 3 hours and in the middle we all went to 7-11 because we got bored... haha, but it was worth it! (:

On Friday we helped paint the outside gates/wall thing of the church and we got so much done! We were there at like 8 am and left at like 11 am. But it was great serving!

Saturday and Sunday were the Cultural Event and Re-Dedication of the Mexico City Temple and it was AWESOME. I felt the spirit sooo much during the Cultural Event and it just confirmed my testimony even more of the church and the Book of Mormon! They broadcasted the Temple Dedication in all of the stake centers in all of Mexico. For the dedication there were 3 sessions and to go in you had to have a special temple recommend. Even though we were just in the Stake Center and not in the actual temple, they said it was, in that moment, like an "extention of the temple." President Eyring and Elder Holland spoke and I loved their talks. And I actually cried during the dedication prayer. You could feel the spirit SO strongly and I had the strongest impression. It was such an amazing feeling that I will never forget. (: I am in such a special place. Mexico, especially Puebla, is so special in the history of the church!

Yesterday we told Emilio that I was leaving and he was so upset! He was like "WHAT?" How are you leaving? And my comp said she was gonna come back with her new companion and he was like, "NO you can't bring a new companion!" It made me so sad and I'm even more sad that I'm going to miss his baptism. :(

These past few weeks have definitely been a learning experience for me. Sometimes I feel like what I want and what the Lord wants for me are always completely different things, but I'm slowly learning to accept his will and trust Him. I know he'll never lead me astray. (: He lives and loves me and all of you. I am completely sure of that.

I hope you all have a great week! Pray for me so I have a good companion and that I get used to my area quickly. (:

Before the rededication on Sunday!

Last district picture before me Elder Montes, Elder Nelson and I have transfers!

Not sure if I already sent this but this is Zona La Paz!

Painting the church early in the morning!

Trying out our Mexican night accessories.

We can't celebrate 15 de Septiembre together anymore so we celebrated a little early... haha.

"Hermano usted es muy fuerte" "De olor o qué?" -Emilio

Well sorry,  I don't have lots of time to write because... 1. We got lost and had to start writing late and 2. The internet went out in the Colonia we're in so yeah...

Today we went to El Centro of Puebla and bought "touristy stuff" since it's almost 15 de Septiembre and we have to dress all Mexicany. (:

The other day my companion had an asthma attack and it was the scariest thing ever. I have never in my life been with someone who was having an asthma attack and she didn't have an inhaler so yeah that was interesting, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting closer to being prepared to be a mom. (; My "motherly" instincts came in pretty nicely. Oh and she's all good now no worries...

We had a Family Home Evening with Emilio the other night and it was really fun. (: It's the 2nd one we've done with him and he loves them. So many members from the ward have been helping us with him and coming with us to visit him! And we changed his baptismal date a little sooner (because of General Conference) and he's being baptized September 26th! Ahhh... I hope I don't get transferred before then!

I love reading the Book of Mormon in Spanish. (: I don't know if I already mentioned it but it's my goal to finish it in Spanish before I go home in January. I'm in Alma 19 so far so I still have a ways to go... haha.

Thinking about the fact that I only have 4.5 months left in the mission is so crazy and I know I'm going to miss it SO much. The experiences of a missionary are one of a kind and life changing. I wouldn't trade it for anything! (:

I hope you all have a wonderful week. (: I'll let you know next week if I have transfers or not!

Love,

Hermana Eyring

"Güeration"

Hi!

Once again I forgot my little book thing where I write what I'm gonna talk about in my emails and my mind always goes blank during email time... oops.

Well today we had a zone activity and played glow in the dark dodgeball so that was interesting. I was the last person standing on my team like twice and it is the scariest thing ever having a bunch of Elders hurling things at you. Then we made hamburgers and they were super good.

We had our 3 month zone conference on Thursday and it was super good! We practiced and learned a ton and it was fun. (: President Nelson is great!

One of the days this week we woke up and we didn't have water. Actually nobody in our apartment building did. So we had to shower at like 2pm in a member's house when they finally got home and it was the worst. You kinda never know when you're gonna wake up without water here...

I had Chiles en Nogada for the first time finally! It's this famous food here in Puebla that they always eat in August and September and it's super good! They use this big chili pepper called Chile Ancho and fill it with chicken, apples, mangos, etc (a bunch of fruit) and this like bbq type sauce then on top they put this cream sauce and pomegranite seeds. It sounds super weird but it's great.

Yesterday in church it was missionary work themed my companion and I had to give talks as well as our ward mission leader and a guy who just recently got back from his mission. My talk was about conversion. I learned so much from writing it and realized that we ALWAYS need to be working to be really converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have to be willing to give up everything to serve the Lord and accept his will. It's something I definitely need to always be working on, but it's definitely worth it. This week I've been working a lot on trusting more in the Lord and His plan.

This is the best work ever and I'm so happy to be a part of it. (: Sorry I didntt have much to say this week, I'll make up for it next week and I won't forget my little booklet thing... haha.

I love and miss you all(:

After the zone activity today

 Hermana Lopez and Elder Díaz!

Can you find Sierra?

Sierra's zone with President and Sister Nelson

"Hermana *electric saw noise*" - What the Office Elders always call me

Holaaa!

Well I have like nothing to talk about this week.

Today we had a district activity and played volleyball with water balloons which is really interesting. Then we played soccer and for the first time I didn't get hit in the head/face with the ball... it was a miracle. But I did fall and cut my knee... well it was somewhat of an improvement. (;

We walked SO much this week. We barely had any appointments and the ones we did have all got cancelled so it was kind of a rough week. I don't think my hips and knees have ever hurt so bad!

We're super excited for this week because yesterday at church we passed around a sign up list to all the organizations and a TON of members wrote their names down to come with us to appointments so we organized it all last night and we're gonna be so busy!

Explanation of my subject line: My name (Sierra) means various things in Spanish. One of the meanings is "saw" So the Elders in the offices just love to call me "Hermana Sierra" or "Hermana brrrrrmmm" whenever they see me... haha.

Welp, I love you all and I'll see you sooner than we know it. (: Have a wonderful week!

Super happy because some Elders gave us Paleta Payasos after the special zone conference.

After the district activity today.

I gave the combi driver a $200 bill (in pesos) and he didn't have paper money
so he gave me ALL my change in coins...

"Será bautizado el 19 de Septiembre?" "Pues ya qué" "Perfecto"

It's been a good week! We're working harder than ever and we're starting to see our work pay off. (:

We have a new investigator named Emilio and he's awesome! He's 70 years old but is super worn down and can barely walk so it's basically like he's 90...haha. He is seriously the funniest old man I have ever met. Whenever we go to visit him he takes like 5 minutes to walk to the window to see that it's us and tell us he's coming. Then he takes like 5-10 more minutes to walk down the stairs and open the door for us. He is always making jokes and it's the best. He lives alone and is super lonely but says he's felt a lot better lately because we've been visiting him and taking church members with us. And he went to church yesterday! It was kind of a challenge for him because he has to take tiny slow steps, so some hermanos from church helped us almost carry him there. Last night he accepted a baptismal date and we're super happy!

Our Mission President's wife Hermana Nelson came with us to a few visits this week and she's great(: She barely knows any Spanish but was willing to bear her testimony and do the best she can. We are so grateful for her and President!

This week we had companion exchanges and I was with Hermana Bullock who was in my ward at BYU so that was fun. We were talking and laughing about BYU and reminiscing about the U.S. She goes home a transfer before me! Also, with her for the first time in my mission, I contacted someone in the street in ENGLISH. We were looking for a street and this girl came up and asked us in perfect English if we needed help. She said she was in Puebla on vacation visiting her family. And we share a message with her and I realized I completely forgot how to have a conversation in English. Even when I talk to American missionaries we talk in Spanglish... haha. I'm going to be SO awkward when I get back... sorry in advance!

On Saturday night my companion got sick and started throwing up in the street and those that know me know that if I see someone throw up, I start gagging too. So I'm super thankful we had a member with us cause I don't know what I would have done! We took her the member's house and the Bishop (who's a medic) and his wife went over and helped us with her. That was the first time any of my companions have gotten stomach sick (usually I'm the one who gets sick) and now I feel so bad for my companions who've had to deal with me sick... haha. I'm surprised I didn't get sick too from all we ate.

MIRACLES HAPPEN! THE GOSPEL IS TRUE. I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve and put my complete trust in the Lord. He will never mislead us! Even though sometimes we don't understand His will, he understands and knows everything that we need to experience to make us better and help us progress.

Have a wonderful week, and don't forget to smile. (:

Love,

Hermana Eyring

We didn't take many pictures this week so here's a selfie of us today in
our favorite little restaurant where they always let us eat for free. :)

El "Pópo" Volcano that is right outside Puebla. It has small eruptions all the time.
